Plant and Jimmy Page do a fair amount of stretching and improvising during this concert - "Dazed and Confused" lasts 18 minutes, while "Whole Lotta Love" is the basis for a 20-minute blues jam that includes Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup's "That's All Right Mama." One of the most essential and important bootlegs to surface in the '70s, The Complete BBC Session 1971 should be grabbed immediately if one comes across a copy. Led Zeppelin will also open its vaults to share dozens of unheard studio and live recordings, with each album featuring a second disc of companion audio comprised entirely of unreleased music related to that album.
This concert demonstrates that Led Zeppelin was not only a great metal band ("Immigrant Song," "Heartbreaker"), but was also a stunning blues-rock band ("Black Dog," "Since I've Been Loving You") and a risk-taking, folk-rock band ("Going to California," "Stairway to Heaven," "That's the Way"). Over recent months, a couple of fantastic sounding soundboard recordings have become available on the Wolfgangs Vault site. The Farm tape list is also available here.
